Our No-Nonesence Proposal
When it comes to financing independent productions, whether for the big screen, TV or streaming services, there’s more to raising the capital than simply pitching a concept or script to potential investors. Of course, if you are actively seeking the involvement of a studio or production company, very often you only need a well written script and a synopsis or treatment. However, if you need to go it alone, you will definitely need some professional help.
The fact is that investors do not invest in concepts, ideas or even complete movie scripts. They invest in legal structures that clearly set out their rights and obligations as investors, and set out your rights and obligations as an independent producer. This involves the preparation of many agreements, contracts and disclosure documents - if anything is missing, it will be extremely difficult to attract money into your project.

How We Work
In order to partner with Mancala, we will need to see what it is you want to produce. In the first instance, we need to see a synopsis of the project. If you have a completed script, we’ll be happy to review that (under a full confidentiality agreement). If accepted, we will send you a proposal setting out what we feel needs to be done to attract investors into the project. This pre-production proposal will be based on the legal aspects of getting your proposal packaged to industry standards. Typically, we would expect you to meet some of the initial fees, but as your partner, Mancala will finance up to 90% of the overall pre-production costs, which will be represented by a pro-rata stake in your production - either by way of shares or limited partnership units.

The perfect proposal
Your movie financing journey starts with an investor presentation designed specifically for busy investors. It summarises your project by providing all the essential details in a single, well designed document that can be easily distributed in either print or digital formats.
Aligned to your presentation document, Mancala will also provide a website version of your proposal specifically for use in social media investment marketing - a sort of online presentation that can actively promote your project to the wider world.
Finally, Mancala provides access to our own database of investors that specifically targets those interested in financing entertainment productions.
Taking Care of the legals
In order to attract movie finance, it is essential to have a correctly structured legal entity through which funding can be accumulated. Mancala will take care of structuring and registration of a Limited Liability Partnership suited for movie or TV productions.
In addition to the legal entity itself, Mancala will also take care of the detail by providing tailor-made Limited Partner and General partner agreements and, where required by law, an optional private placement memorandum.
